Fluid Power Solutions Ltd
At the Pike River on the West Coast a coal storage and loading facility was required. FPS Ltd designed and installed a system using a 37kW power unit to allow loading of the coal onto trains for transport.

A local contractor approached FPS to automate his post-driver and install a laser tracking system. He needed absolute precision in driving posts - perfectly straight lines, exactly level, regardless of the camber of the paddock.
The solution? The steering was fitted with an electronic linear transducer to ensure we had control of the steering direction, steering hydraulics were modifed, a laser receiver was fitted to an extension arm, automated hydraulic leveling system was fitted to the post driver, and a hydraulic ripping bar was fitted to the under-carriage of the tractor.

The final result is a totally automated steering system that follows a laser emitter placed 750m away down the paddock. The degree of accuracy of the posts is +/- 20mm, and the posts are driven in perfectly level, regardless of the camber of the paddock.
When Christchurch company Cavotec MSL won the contract to build mooring systems for the Port of Dover in the UK, FPS Ltd was in turn contracted by Eaton New Zealand to design and install the power pack and hydraulics.

This is "MoorMaster" technology, which uses a vacuum system rather than ropes to moor ships, the vacuum plates rise and fall with the tide, and mooring is faster and easier.

FPS will design, build and install hydraulic power units for any application. Our power units have been shipped all over the world.

FPS was commissioned by Rapp-Hydema (Norway), to build these power units for installation to an Australian Tuna fishing vessel.
When one of our allied companies, Nelson Reliance Engineering, was building a new yacht (which included a new tender as part of the project), the client wanted the option of parasailing behind the tender. We designed and installed the hyrdaulic parasailing winch. The boys were all lining up to test the system - needless to say, it worked perfectly!

Over the years FPS has designed, supplied and installed the complete hydraulic systems for numerous new mussel harvesters. Systems include deck cranes, anchor winch, steering, deck winches and deck machinery and all plumbing. We have also been involved in the upgrade of older harvesters and reconfigurations.
We service these harvesters, primarily out of the Port of Havelock. We also service harvesters as far away as the Coromandel. We have custom-designed maintenance contracts with some of the Havelock based mussel companies.

When a local fishing company were refurbishing one of their factory vessels, FPS Ltd designed and installed the hydraulic systems controlling all the product handling machinery.
