Island Passage back to Challenge Marine
Designed by McBride Design and built by Challenge Marine in 2006, Island Passage is a luxury cruising catamaran. She can be chartered by groups for short cruises, weddings and day trips, and runs regular short cruises around New Zealand and the Pacific.
She has recently been back in Port Nelson for paint and some maintenance work.
Captain Paul Mabee comments "Challenge Marine is so easy to work with. They get it sorted, they keep us in the loop and the work is done on time. Also Nelson is a great little port - it's all on one street, everyone knows everybody else, and that seems to keep everyone honest!"
There has been plenty of change at Challenge Marine in the last few months, mostly in terms of our team.
Rex Barnett has joined Challenge Marine as a Sales Engineer. Rex has owned and run a general and marine engineering business in Blenheim, building both commercial and pleasure boats, large and small, for over 25 years. He has been actively involved in the aquaculture industry, developing and building equipment for the Marlborough mussel industry. Rex shares our excitment in positioning Challenge Marine as a forward thinking leader in our industry.
Nevil Basalaj is hardly new to Challenge Marine given that he started the company over 26 years ago and owns it still! Recently he has been back on site as Managing Director, actively working with the new team to reposition the company - and loving it!
